MILLOM face a big weekend in their bid to retain their status in National Conference League Division Two when they welcome Thornhill Trojans to Devonshire Road.

Woolybacks coach Tom Sibley is hoping a big crowd will turn out to cheer on his team, which sees teenagers Charlie Enslie and Connor Terrill handed an opportunity to impress.

Elsewhere in the division, Askam head to Crossfields aiming to take a step closer to securing a place in the promotion play-offs.

MILLOM V THORNHILL TROJANS

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

MILLOM continue their bid for survival in the NCL second division but face an uphill task when they entertain second-placed Thornhill.

The Woollybacks are second-bottom and go into battle with several players missing including coach Tom Sibley. Also out are Ian Armstrong, Paul Carter, Adam Kelly, Callum Lamont, Luke Brady and Connor Mitchell.

Jarty Robinson has played his last game too as the youngster is off for a career with the Royal Navy and all at the club wish him all the best.

But two 16-year-olds in Charlie Enslie and Connor Terrill are in the mix to take on the Trojans, along with others yet to be named.

“It is going to be a big ask with those mentioned above along with long term absentees missing. But lads at Millom always do their best and hopefully they can put on a good showing,” said Sibley.

“We are fighting for survival and come up against a team pushing for the title. I would like the folk of Millom to get down to give us some vocal support and encourage the lads.”

While Millom had the weekend off, the Trojans were lifting the local Jim Brown Heavey Woollen Cup by defeating Shaw Sharks 22-10.

CROSFIELDS V ASKAM

ASKAM’S push for a place in the Division Two play-offs continues with their trip to Warrington and they welcome back Mark Tyson following surgery on his ankle.

Also returning is Marc Dixon, but not on the bus leaving Fallowfield Park are Jamie Butler,Tom Wilkinson, Liam Saunders, Sam Dowsett, and Adam Jackson, while Joe Satterthwaite is rated doubtful with a hamstring injury.

“We will still go with a strong squad,” said Askam coach Mike Wilson.

“We have plenty of strike players and are looking for a win with only one home game to come, with two away at Thornhill and St Judes, with leaders Oulton sandwiched in between.

“So it is vital that we come away with the two points.”
