VICTORY is key for Askam tomorrow as they seek a home play-off draw in the National Conference.

They face Saddleworth Rangers, while Millom look to build on last week's win over Ince Rosebridge in Division One.

Hindpool Tigers, Ulverston and Walney Central are also in action.

ASKAM V SADDLEWORTH RANGERS

(Fallowfield Park, 2.30pm)

THE Villagers go into the most important game of their season as they aim to secure second place in National Conference Division and a home tie in the play-offs.

A point should be sufficient, but two will ensure second place as Blackbrook – 32-6 winners over Askam last week – are hot in pursuit.

Points difference is against the St Helens side, and with two games remaining they trail Askam by 209.

Coach Mike Wilson is aware of the task his side face against the team from over the Moors, and said: “It is going to be a tough game. Saddleworth are a team in form and also in the frame for a play-off spot. They are a big and physical side, and we must keep our discipline.

“We have to stay focused, control the ball and improve on last week, when I was disappointed with the loss at Blackbrook. We were poor, and I think the lads had one eye on this week's game.

“We have trained hard this week, and hopefully we will put the wrongs right.”

Barry Pugh joins long-term injured Mark Tyson and Tom Hopkins on the sidelines with a troublesome knee, while Kris Tyson and Adam Jackson are also unavailable.

Wilson added: “We have key players missing, but will still have a strong side out. We have a big squad and Joe Dowsett has made himself available following a spell out after taking an elbow in the throat in a recent game, which affected his voice box. That's a plus.”

MILLOM v MYTON WARRIORS

(Devonshire Road, 2.30pm)

MILLOM take on the mighty Myton and look to continue the good work of last week, when they defeated Ince Rosebridge 35-22 to register their fourth win of the National Conference Division One campaign.

However, it will be more of a task this week as the Humberside club lie second.

Coach Tom Sibley said: “We had a very good win over Rosebridge and, all being well, we can take that performance into the game with Myton, but it will be a difficult game as they are a good side.

“We have three games remaining and we're looking to go out with a bang and regroup for next season.”

Warwick Carter, Ross Brookes, Paul Carter and Dane Kelly are unavailable, with Chris Warren doubtful with a calf injury.

Back in contention are Andrew Mellon and Jonathan Hodgson, with others to be added.

HINDPOOL TIGERS v GOLBOURNE PARKSIDE

(Brisbane Park, 2.30pm)

BOTH teams require one point in their bid for a place in the North West Men's Division One play-offs.

For the home side, it will be a welcome return to Brisbane Park as they have only had two game in the last 12 weeks for different reasons.

Coach Phil Cubiss praisesd his squad for what has been a difficult stop-start season, and said: “I have to give credit to the lads for sticking it out. They have stayed focused and put a lot of effort in keeping fit in the past few weeks.”

Missing out are the three Archers – Daryl, Matt and Josh – along with Rob Bower, Jamie Lynn, Adam Martin, Scott McGukin and Dale Sneesby.

Into the squad come Cameron Hayton, Mike Kummer Jamie McIlroy and Brad Wrightwebb.

ULVERSTON v WATH BROW HORNETS A

(Dragley Beck, 2.30pm)

ULVERTON were shocked by their 30-30 Cumbria League home draw with Seaton last week, and look to take the two points when they entertain the Brow's second string.

Coach Phil Atkinson said: “I was gutted last week. Having led 30-12 going into the closing minutes, we switched off, leaving the cue on the table. But all credit goes to Seaton, they kept going and got their rewards.

“We are now focused on our last game, and I want us to go out on a high with a win.”

Illness rules out Jamie Sandham, while work commitments could come into play for Matt Storey. Marc Saunders is rated 50/50 with a leg injury.

Into contention come Josh Rankin and Jake Spedding, along with others to be named.

SEATON v WALNEY CENTRAL

CENTS called off their Cumbria League game at Distington last week due to lack of numbers, and could be in a similar position this week as Shaun Morrow strives to send a team up the coast.

Cents are at Rating Lane next Saturday in the top-four play-offs, with the winners heading to champions Distington.
