UNBEATEN Askam picked up the Barrow and District League trophy after the perfect season.

The Villagers recorded 10 wins from 10 matches, ending the campaign by beating second-placed Ulverston 38-16 at Fallowfield Park.

Askam will go into the Top-Four play-offs as top seeds and looking to add more silverware to their collection.

This week sees the start of the CJS KO Cup and Askam are already through to the second round after a 16-8 win over Dalton on Wednesday night.

Defending champions Walney Central have a home tie against Ulverston tonight and both sides will be wanting to progress to the next round with the aim of claiming some silverware to end the season.

A young Ulverston side could spring a surprise if they can put together a good performance as they did in the Harry Warman Cup final, but Walney who have one or two experienced players in their ranks and home advantage could see them through.

Barrow Island have a home tie against Hindpool Tigers. If the Island can field their experienced players on the night, they should have too much know-how for a Hindpool side who are sure to give 100 per cent effort.

Away from Fallowfield Park in the league last week, Hindpool lost out 22-18 to Dalton in a very entertaining game at Brisbane Park and Walney had a walkover as Barrow Island could not raise a side.
