MILLOM’s hopes of securing home advantage for play-off hopes in National Conference League Division Three were put on hold after they lost 30-8 away to Eastmoor Dragons, writes Paddy McAteer.

Ross Brooks crossed for a brace of tries for the visitors. However, victory at home to lowly Salford City Roosters this Saturday will secure third place and home advantage for both the semi-finals and final, should Millom get to that stage.

Barrow Island, who are already promoted from Division Three, rounded off their season with a 26-6 win over Desbury Celtic.

Island’s tries came from Carl McBain, Callum Nelson, Ryan Clegg, Blain Marwood and Tez Nueto, with Jake Carter. kicking three goals for his side as well.

In Division Two, Askam kept their promotion play-off ambitions alive as they moved into fifth position after a fine 32-16 win over leaders Stanningley at Fallowfield Park.

The Villagers built up a 18-0 lead at the break and though the visitors came back at 22-10 it was not enough for them.

Askam’s tries came from Sam Dowsett, Tom Hopkins, Jake Spedding,Russ Bolton, Adam Jackson and Kris Tyson, who added four goals as well.

Dave Clark’s side are now two points clear of the chasing pack and are back in home action this Saturday when they host another of the play-off hopefuls, West Bowling.
