BARROW Island pulled off a fine away win at Oldham St Annes to gain promotion to National Conference League Division Two, writes Paddy McAteer.

Island were staring at a heavy defeat as the Oldham side raced into an early 18-0 lead going ahead in the first minute with their first touch of the ball,a converted try.

Then Island introduced Blain Marwood and he was the architect of turning the game on its head as the visitors ran in 32 unanswered points.

Marwood crossed for two tries, while others came from Josh Banham Joe Spenceley, Tom Brannon and Ben Garner. Jake Carter added four goals.

Millom are hot on their heels for the other promotion place after sharing the spoils at fellow contenders Clock Face. The St Helens side were ahead 4-0 at the break, but it finished 18-18.

Ethan Kelly got two tries, with Noah Robinson touching down and Lee Postlethwaite kicking three goals.

Askam keep their play-off hopes alive in division two with a thumping 42-28 win at East Leeds.

Man of the match Russ Bolton led the romp with two tries with a pair also coming from Sam Dowset and Kris Tyson who marked his return with seven goals.Tom Hopkins also crossed the white-wash.

Hindpool Tigers could not raise enough players for their game at Latchford.
