BARROW Island fly the home flag for South Cumbrian clubs as they host Salford City Roosters in National Conference Division Three.

Elsewhere, Askam, Ulverston and Walney Cents hit the road to Drighlington, Bury and Wigan St Pats respectively.

BARROW ISLAND v SALFORD CITY ROOSTERS

(Rating Lane 2.30pm)

ISLAND look to get back on track after last week’s disappointing defeat at Gateshead Thunder.

Two points should have been in the bag, and tomorrow is a game where the points on offer should not go out of town.

Coach Joe Elliott said: “Last week we never played well, but there was a lot of effort at times, despite the scoreline.

“We were vulnerable on too many occasions and were lacking ball in hand for most of the first half.

“We have to get back on track if we are to get within striking distance of promotion.

“We have some difficult games coming up but we should be all right for numbers with most players available.

“We have a big game coming up next week with Millom at home, so I am looking for a good performance tomorrow.

“We are down in numbers tomorrow but after that we should be fine for a few weeks.”

Dan White faces a test on a damaged shoulder, and Elliott will delay naming his final 17 until later today.

DRIGHLINGTON v ASKAM

THE Villagers make the long trip into Yorkshire without several key players as they continue their drive for a top-four place in Division Two of the National Conference.

Coach Dave Clark said: “We are down in numbers but should still field a reasonable 17-man squad. It’s coming up to that time of year when for whatever reason players are unavailable – but you have to get on with it.

“The second half of the season is not going to get any easier, but we will push on.”

Clark is minus Russ Bolton, Kris Tyson, Joe Satterthwaite, Sam Broadley, Jake Spedding, Stu High and Jordan Jones.

On the plus-side, Jamie Butler and Brad Jackson are back on board with others to be named.

BURY BRONCOS v ULVERSTON

THE Dragley Beck side go in search of the double over the Broncos following their hefty win at home.

However, coach Phil Atkinson is not counting his chickens just yet.

He said: “We did win fairly comfortably at home but you don’t know what you face on the road.

“They could be a totally different side at home so we are not getting carried away.

“It looks like there will be no let-up in the hot weather so it could come down to how the teams deal with the conditions.

“Our defence has been good in recent weeks so if we get that right we should be okay.”

Unavailable for Ulverston are Matt Dean, Howard Rowley, Brad Williamson, Steve O’Connor, Marc Storey and Will Coles.

However, on the flip side of the coin, back in contention are skipper Matty Storey, Mark Wilkinson, Dan Crabtree and, on his return from Askam, Marc Dixon.

WIGAN ST PAT'S A v WALNEY CENTRAL

CENTS aim to get back to winning ways following two straight away defeats in the North West men’s League Division One.

Walney team-mates will be pulling together tomorrow after battling it out against each other in last week’s State of Origin game between North and South.
