Players square up in annual charity challenge

THE annual inter-league charity match between the Friday and Monday games leagues takes place on Monday, at the Kill-One Club (7.15pm start).

INTER-LEAGUE

Players from the rival Barrow competitions will take each other on at snooker, billiards, darts, crib, and don, and there will also be a presentation made to five local charities. The Monday League leave a slot in their fixture programme every season to allow the challenge match to go ahead.

Charity recipients and donation figures are: Tuesday Handicapped Club, £500, St Mary’s Hospice Club, £100, Dial A Ride, £100, Making Space, £100, and Mill Lane Parents Carers Association, £100.

Everyone is welcome to the event, which is being supported by local clubs and sponsors. The main sponsors are the Kill-One Club, and Nigel Quinton, from the Furness Building Society.

Other sponsors are Steve Wilcock, Lakeland Leisure; Norman and Sue Rhodes, Barrow Meat Market; Terry Murphy, and MW Flooring.
