Park conquer King to open up gap

WALNEY Park A are the last remaining unbeaten team in the Walney Bowls League, after they stormed up the Promenade to lower the King Alfred’s colours in some style, and take a handsome lead at the top of the table.

WINNER: Bob Thorpe

Jack Taylor and Gary Harris had outstanding wins in a superb team performance by the visitors, while Keith Mills was best for a disappointing home side.

Barrow Island made home advantage count against South End, with an 8-4 win. Jack Adams and Eddie Harkins led the way to the aggregate points, while Martin Steel was the lead player for the visitors.

Walney Park found some form and made it a bad night for the Alfred teams, with an 8-4 win against Alfred A.

Kenny Judge and Bob Thorpe had outstanding wins, while Dave Whitehead and John Clarke gave some resistance for the visitors.

West Shore had a fine 9-3 home win against Barrow Island A.

Ray Thomson, John Pattinson and Dave Rawlings all had superb single-figure wins for the home side, while Jim Tongue and Paul Dent were best for the visitors.

The two West Shore tenants met, with Police ‘visiting’ Post Office.

Although they shared the games, it was the Posties who took the aggregate. Colin Evans, of Post Office, and Roy Davies, of Police, were the respective leading players.
