HAWCOAT Park’s first team start their 2018-19 campaign at home to Wigton tomorrow in the newly-formed Cumbria League One.

The county-based division has come into being following the RFU restructure over the summer and another one is due at the end of this season, with this season’s arrangement planned to be a temporary one.

Skipper George Smith will be looking for his troops to do their utmost, with a players shortage this week and next due to holidays and injuries.

Adam Grainger, Andy Kent and Ash Mowatt will be key this week in keeping the squad focused in what will be a tough outing at home.

There will be a number of last week’s successful A-team players stepping up, with the likes of Matt Robson and Harry Higgins likely to get the call up and Benji Platt taking on the full-back shirt on his first-team debut.

James Howden will have his part to play in keeping things moving forward and bringing on the team around him in the team’s pursuit of points

Hawcoat’s A team are on the road to Leigh’s third team in North West Intermediate League Division Four (North).

They are aiming to build on last week’s superb last-minute 38-36 win against a Thornton Cleverly A-team side which contained more than half of their first team.

Peter Jennens will lead the team at Leigh, amply backed up by stalwart Martin Kennedy in his new role as player-manager.

Adam Corrie returns to the side after a spell away from rugby and will join a young A team featuring prospects Jack Lord, Keenan Cotton and Fran Sarmiento, to name a few.

Dan Hayes and Jay Crowe will look to control the back division with the help of clubman Adam Williamson, who will put his broken body on the line yet again.

Coach Dave Wynne will be pulling the strings from the touchline, with Chris Milby never far from the action either.
