IT is a festive away day for Furness, Hawcoat Park, Millom and Windermere tomorrow as local sides hope for some Christmas cheer.

Hawcoat seconds are the only team to enjoy home comforts, as they take on Bury.

Workington v Furness

FURNESS continued their march up the Cumbria League table with last week’s 36-17 home win over Silloth, but they face a tough challenge at Workington tomorrow.

This could be a barnstormer of a game as Furness look to keep the pressure on Whitehaven at the top of the division.

Sam Dutton’s return to the squad at scrum-half will see greater versatility around the scrum and the breakdown, and give the backs the room to exploit the wide open spaces on Workington’s ground.

Chris Dalton adds some bulk to the front row, supporting the consistent Ben Hughes at hooker.

Corne Els slots into second row, allowing the dynamic Rhys Studt to continue his partnership with Joe Mallinson in the back row.

Adam Nicholson moves to centre alongside youngster Rhys Humphries, who continues to impress. Lee Starkie is at full-back and is proving to be a solid last line of defence for the Blues. On the bench, Furness welcome back Andy Brannon after a long recovery from a shoulder injury.

Cockermouth v Millom

MILLOM are on the road as they travel north to take on Cockermouth in the Cumbria League.

The Blues are likely to keep a similar squad to recent weeks, with club captain Trevor Dixon looking for his troops to get a win on the board.

With Robbie Pattinson at scrum-half the Millom attack, will carry some threat, and he will link up well with half-back partner Chris Park.

Ian Cummings’ good all-round play is a bonus in the set-piece as he drives the ball up, with Steve Watson never far from the play.

Player-coach Adam Redhead may well pull the blue and white shirt on to help the cause, alongside Jordan Laydon.

Kyle Barnes will be looking to get plenty of early ball to get the opposing backs on the back foot, with Ryan Carter and Joe Moyes always on hand to help out.

Eccles v Hawcoat Park

HAWCOAT appear to be growing in confidence if last week’s 18-18 draw with Aldwinians is anything to go by.

Skipper Brad Morrow leads from the back row in this North Lancs/Cumbria League trip to Manchester, and he will joined by Callum Ramsey and Alfie White.

The front five are Ash Mowat and Grady Slater in the engine room, and John Donnan, Adam Grainger and Andy Kent up front.

Johnny Burrows returns to the team at scrum-half, linking up with regular stand-off James Howden.

Centre-field is where the game could well be won, and with Chris Burns and Ryan Clegg holding court, the team cannot go far wrong.

Hopefully Rodney Odondi will be fit to join Robert Shepherd on the pitch.

There is no getting away from it, this will be tough one, but it is a game Park are more than capable of winning.

Hawcoat Park seconds v Bury

PARK will be looking to make up for lost time after seeing the last three weeks’ matches called off due to the wintry weather.

Warrior Ryan Brown is likely to run out as prop, alongside the ever-present Mark Hall.

Captain Martin Kennedy and Luke Shaw take control of the second row, with Jackson Glynn returning to the squad as well.

Austin Meadows, Harrison O’Brien, Connor Vetes and Joe Rea will be looking for a back row place, with Euan James and Joe Dalton both keen for a stand-off shirt.

Dave Wynne at centre will have plenty of play-makers around him, with Connor McDermott, James Dallimore and Jay Crowe all more than capable of putting points on the board.

Ted Jackson also throws hit hat into the ring as the Maroon and Whites look to move back to second place in the North West Intermediate Division Four North table.

Carlisle seconds v Windermere

WINDERMERE head north to face a Carlisle side who are proving very tough cookies in the Cumbria League this season.

Jamie Hardman will be looking to his troops to continue their winning ways, and will look to his big second rowers Tadhg Butler and Josh Dawson to take the bull by the horns.

Hardman and front row partners Dan Harrison and Luke Todd will need to get on top early at the scrums.

Connor Mayer, Leon Surfontain and Johnny Benson will look to win the breakdowns to allow Dan Neild to get the backs, and Bertie Hodgson up and running.

Dave Oakley and Neil Piggot will play in the centres, with wide men Tom Atkinson and Moses Dawson looking to get over the line early doors.

Jim Crawford brings up the rear at full-back and is more than capable of getting over the whitewash himself.
