FURNESS are back in action after a two-week break as they host Carlisle Crusaders at the Strawberry Grounds.

Fresh from their home hammering of Wigton, Hawcoat Park will head to Bolton with confidence high ahead of their North Lancs/Cumbria League encounter.

FURNESS v CARLISLE CRUSADERS

(Strawberry Grounds, 2.15pm kick-off)

FURNESS look forward to getting back into action in the Cumbria League, having had a week off since their win at Millom.

A forced change in the front row sees Corne Els continue his apprenticeship at prop, a position he has recently adapted to with some creditable performances. Dillan Taputu has a better excuse than most to miss this week, as he is getting married in New Zealand.

The second row of Will Mallinson and James Tyson will add the grunt, with the busy back row of Joe Mallinson, Rhys Studt and Craig McKinnon looking to cover the ground.

Sam Dutton at scrum half gives fly-half Steve Neale plenty of options, including outside him the bustling Adam Nicholson at centre.

Young Rhys Humphreys continues to impress with some solid performances, and the Blues rearguard of Lee Starkey at full-back gives them some attacking flair.

With plenty of players available, the bench will be strong and versatile, giving the home side numerous possibilities.

UPPER EDEN v MILLOM

MILLOM face a tough task as they head to high-flying Upper Eden in the Cumbria League.

However, with confidence building through the squad, they know that valuable first win is not far away.

Millom are under no illusions that Upper Eden will be a strong, mobile team, but they have a point to prove after a narrow defeat earlier in the season at Wilson Park.

The team picked up more injuries at Cockermouth last week, with Chris Park out with a calf injury and Steven Watson a doubt after a hand injury. He may need to strap it up and tough it out though, as the front row is lacking in numbers.

Millom sit bottom of the Cumbria League, without a win as yet, but some of their performances do not justify their lowly position.

Upper Eden should expect a tough game and a battle in the pack which should open space out wide for Millom’s youthful back line to show their speed.

The team are travelling by bus and taking some supporters along to show the spirit in the club is good, and the team need to reward them with a good display – and hopefully a positive result.

Millom squad: I Cummings, D Doyle, C Loughran, S Watson, K Coulson, J Tomlinson, J Laydon, M Jordan, C Mounsey, R Pattinson, J Moyes, C Terrill, R Carter, J Robinson, S Robertson, Jordan Moyes, S Rodgers, P Moore, C Emslie, D James.

BOLTON v HAWCOAT PARK

REJUVENATED Hawcoat Park head to Bolton in confident mood after the home mauling of Wigton.

Skipper Brad Morrow looks to lead the team onwards and upwards in the North Lancs/Cumbria League.

John Donnan and Andy Kent are the props, with Adam Grainger at hooker.

With Ash Mowat missing, Callum Ramsay may well move up to second row, with Ryan Milner his partner-in-crime.

Joining Morrow in the back row will be Mike Lightfoot and the superb Alfie White, who had a storming game last time out.

James Howden and George Smith continue at scrum half and stand-off respectively. Chris Burns at centre will be hopeful of Ryan Clegg being alongside him as the team look to not only get the upper hand in attack but also in defence.

Matt Burrows is on one wing and Lewis Sayle the other, with the outstanding Blain Marwood at full-back and a strong bench at their disposal.

HAWCOAT PARK A v LEYLAND

(Hawcoat Park, 2.15pm kick-off)

THE Maroon and Whites second string are at home to Sale Sharks North West Intermediate Division Four table-toppers Leyland in what could be a great game of rugby.

Hawcoat are the only team to beat Leyland this season, so the Lancashire side will be out for revenge.

The home side look very strong, with the return of Harrison O’Brien, Ethan Vial, Robert Harvey and Connor McDermott to the squad.

Rodney Odondi and Will Coles are released by the first team and will be looking for a start, as will Jay Crowe, Adam Armstrong and Keenan Cotton.

Ryan Brown and Paul Woodburn eye starts in the front row with Mark Hall also in the mix. This may see Mike Gibson move to the back row, with Matt Robson and Rich Dalton in prime position to join him.

Captain Martin Kennedy is back from a skiing holiday and so is likely to figure with Luke Shaw in the engine room.

Dave Wynne leads the back-line, with Euan James the man in the middle keeping the team moving forward.

Joe Dalton makes a welcome return and will be alongside Col Wright at some point during the game.
