THE end of the season is looming for South Cumbria’s teams, with the curtain coming down on Millom’s campaign tomorrow.

Furness and Hawcoat Park have a little way to go, and face tough games this weekend.

SILLOTH v MILLOM

MILLOM travel north for their last game of a Cumbria League season that has been a long one to say the least for the Wilson Park side.

With a developing squad, and young lads such as Robbie Pattinson, Kieron Coulson, Joe Tomlinson, Jarty Robinson and Sy Robertson proving their mettle, the Blue and Whites have managed to improve massively.

The young prospects have become starting players, putting the club in a good position for the future, and credit goes to coach Adam Redhead for bringing them on.

Millom’s season has improved over the last few games as they have picked up a few wins, before a positive display against a strong Cockermouth team last week.

They will be looking to take the points at Silloth, and have every chance with captain Trevor Dixon in form and leading his pack around the field. Chris Park has shown his age and finally moved into the flanker position from his fly-half role, gaining a new lease of life. He will be looking to continue his good form.

With Jordon Moyes’ attacking ability from full-back and pace in the back line, the visitors will be looking to play open rugby and get over the line.

ALDWINIANS v HAWCOAT PARK

HAWCOAT are on the road for a tough North Lancs/Cumbria League game at Aldwinians.

There are a couple of changes to the side beaten by Tarleton last week, but they still carry a strong squad.

Skipper Brad Morrow steps up to the front row, and joins the big guns of Ryan Brown and John Donnan in what is a strong-looking front three.

Ash Mowat is set to have Callum Ramsey alongside him in the second row in what has proven a dominant partnership in the past, as they support the front three in the loose and the set-piece.

It is all change in the back row, which sees hooker Adam Grainger move back to link up with Johnny Burrows and regular number eight Alfie White.

James Howden continues at scrum half and will link up with George Smith, who will be looking to get tough centre duo Chris Burns and Grady Slater up and running.

Out wide, young pacesetters Joe Dalton and Scott Garnett continue on the wing, with Lewis Sayle taking up the mantle of full-back.

Andy Kent and Mike Lightfoot have been named on the bench, with another squad member to be named.

FURNESS v UPPER EDEN

(Strawberry Grounds, 3pm)

FURNESS go into tomorrow knowing a home win would spoil the party for league leaders Upper Eden.

The visitors need a five-point victory to win the Cumbria League and secure promotion.

The Blues are missing key personnel due to work and holiday commitments, but have a strong squad to pick from.

The return of Ben Hughes at hooker will bolster the front row, as last week’s try-scorer Dillan Taputu drops to the second row to partner James Tyson.

The back row of skipper Corne Els, Joe Mallinson and the returning Andy Brannon provide the mobility needed to counter the Upper Eden pack.

Craig McKinnon continues at scrum half as cricket removes Sam Dutton from the squad, and Steve Neale will provide steady ball from stand-off, with a young back line which will be tested on the day and includes Rhys Humpheys and Ethan Guy in the centres.

Furness feel their growing confidence will help them adapt to what will be a pacey game, with Iestyn Humphreys the last line of defence, filling in for the versatile but unavailable Rhys Studt at full-back.
