LINDAL and Marton Primary School have been rewarded for their gymnastics brilliance by scooping the Mail Sports Performance of the Month award.
The school's Key Steps One, Two and Three gymnastics teams took part in the Cumbria School Games finals at Penrith Leisure Centre in March – and they took the competition by storm.
After winning through the district finals, seventeen children from Lindal and Marton represented Furness at the event, consisting of ten girls and seven boys.
During the competition, the children performed body management floor routines, as well as performing on the vault.
The standard of gymnastics was extremely high from all the schools who made it through to the final.
Months of hard work, dedication and perseverance paid off when all the children from Lindal and Marton put on an impressive performance in front of the judges.
The school's Key Steps One and Two teams both finished first, and the Key Steps Three team finished third.
Lindal and Marton Year 4 teacher and PE leader Jen Elliott said: “With almost 1,500 children taking part in gymnastics across the county, for all three of our teams to make it through to the county finals is a huge achievement in itself.
“To be placed first in Key Steps One and Two and third in Key Steps Three is amazing!”
She added: “We are over the moon with what the children have achieved and extremely proud of their motivation and ambition, which has resulted in great success.”
Members of the successful team were presented with a cheque for £50 by competition sponsors Furness Heating Components.
