AROUND 100 teams and 750 players descended on Devonshire Road when Millom AFC hosted their annual five-a-side junior tournament.

Teams came from the Barrow area, the West Coast and the Westmorland leagues, taking part in tournaments all the way from under-seven age group up to under-16 last Sunday.

Of the teams from this area, Hawcoat Park triumphed in the under-12s tournament after beating Holker Old Boys in the final.

Ulverston Rangers Panthers saw off club-mates Ulverston Rangers Predators to win the under-14s tournament as well.

Host club Millom had two of their teams finish as runners-up, with Moor Row triumphing over both of them in the under-11 and under-16 competitions respectively.

Holker Old Boys were runners-up to Cleator Moor Celtic in the under-14 tournament, with Seaton Rovers, Whitehaven Amateurs, Workington Reds and Whitehaven Miners winnings the under-seven, under-eight, under-nine and under-10 competitions respectively.

Away from the football, there was a bouncy castle and other fun stalls to keep the children amused, while Millom were grateful to all of the volunteers who helped make the tournament a success.
