A TOTAL of 78 teams from across Cumbria and Lancashire descended on the Glaxo Sports Club last weekend as GSK Ulverston Rangers hosted their annual summer youth tournament.

The tournament saw teams from under-sevens to under-16s compete across 265 matches in bright and sunny conditions.

Vickerstown were one the most successful of the teams from this area, winning both the under-nines and under-16s competitions.

Host club Ulverston claimed the under-sevens shield, with the cup being won by Halton Youth, and the plate in the under-eights tournament.

The under-eights cup was shared between Crooklands Casuals Oranges and Holker Old Boys. There was nothing to separate the two teams, as they were locked at 8-8 in the penalty shootout in the final before calling it a tie.

Swarthmoor Blues claimed the under-10s honours and Furness Cavaliers Blues were crowned under-15s champions.

Lancashire visitors Heysham Blue Star took the under-13s and under-14s titles, with Kendal's Wattsfield Youth triumphing in the under-11s and under-12s tournaments.
