ELAINE Ryland played well at the top for Roose in the Furness Ladies Evening Bowling League.

She won 21-17, but the team went down 8-4 to Hawcoat Park.

Ann Morrison, Barbara Staniforth and Chris Muldoon-Smith were the only victors for Red River at home to Lindal.

Pat Sharp had an excellent result at the top for West Mount, but King Alfred took the match 9-3.

Biggar Bank's Jenny Evans and Amy Wrathall were victors in their game with the Co-op.

Dalton lost just two games at home to Kirkby, while North Scale's Joan Strefford was their lone winner against Askam.

A rearranged game between Lindal and Red River resulted with a whitewash by Lindal.

Irene Murray and Diane Riley won the Over-55s Ladies Pairs at Hawcoat Park, beating Ann France and Maureen Ratcliffe 21-20 in the final.

The start was delayed by heavy rain flooding both greens, but as the day progressed the weather improved and the greens got quicker.

The final was even until Dalton pair Murray and Riley took a 19-13 lead.

France Took the jack and played long into the corners and pulled back to 20-19, and at 20-across the home bowlers were lying game until Riley came up with winner.

The organisers thanked Jimmy on the board, the measurers and caterers, and Norma for her sponsorship.
