THE Dalton Cricket Club procession continues in Alan Myerscough (Ford) Ulverston and District Bowling League Division Two.

However, the race for second gathers pace.

Dalton continued their dominance with a 13-1 victory at home to Hawcoat Park A, a game where six of the Cricketers won by 21-10 or easier.

Pick of the bunch was Steven Davey’s 21-4, with Harry Dagger and Kevin Edwards weighing in with 21-6 scorelines. Ian McBride had the honour of being Hawcoat’s saviour with a great success at second man.

In the box seat for second right now are Co-op A, even after suffering a 9-6 defeat at home to Salthouse A. Top man Ian Sim kept up his fine form for the Co-op, triumphing 21-9, with Roger Wood playing the supporting role.

Darren Mountford and Ray Smith were the stars for Salthouse A. The result means Co-op A are 10 points ahead of Salthouse A heading towards the last few weeks of the season.

West Mount are still right in the hunt, three points behind Salthouse A and did their cause no harm when they visited Kings Head, returning with a 10-5 victory.

Stephen Thwaites had a great win for the Mount, as did young Rowan Massey Holmes, a result which would have seen his ever-present mum smiling greenside. Tommy Tomsett and Alan Salisbury both had single-figure successes for the Ulverston outfit.

Bottom club Glaxo A had a rare win as they entertained Walney Park A, beating them 9-5. Three of the team won 21-9; the top two of Kevin Toal and Robert Rogers, along with Les Tallon. Tommy Managh and Leo Clarke were top performers for the Park.

The tightest game of the night was at Askam, where their second string hosted Roose A and, although managing to take the games 7-5, lost the aggregate by just four chalks – thus losing the game 8-7.

Roose had a great 21-4 score from Mike Gasson to thank, with Ian Pearson weighing in with a 21-8 victory of his own. For Askam, Bill Sears won 21-7 to keep the game on a knife-edge until the end.

The biggest margin of the night was at the Ulverston Leisure Centre, with the Police hosting Barrow Island. It was the Island side who ran out with an emphatic 12-3 victory, with Dave Slowey and Kian Goude in scintillating form. Dave Little showed his experience for the Police with a 21-7 win.

Barrow Island made it an excellent week as they played a rearranged fixture at home to Kings Head and again ran out comfortable winners, 11-3.

In a strange twist the bottom four all won 21-9. Kian Goude continued his good form along with Derek Heron, Mick Jones and Roy Davies. Geoff Critchley was best winner for the Head.
