FROM football to fencing, golf to gymnastics, bowls to badminton – Barrow Borough Council wants to know what sports you play.

The town hall’s development services team are looking at ways to boost participation numbers in sport and physical activities, and are assessing the quality of playing pitches and sports facilities in the borough.

Questionnaires have been sent out to sporting clubs and groups so they can have their say, and the feedback received will be used to gain a clearer picture of numbers involved in sport, what the most popular activities are, and the condition of facilities.

Those who have been sent a questionnaire are being encouraged to take the time to complete the relevant sections and return it to the town hall as soon as possible.

As an added incentive, all survey forms returned by December 20 will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 cash for their club, group or facility.

Helen Houston, of the council’s development services team, said: “We are keen to talk to as many people as possible involved in local clubs, groups, teams and the venues where they play and practice.

“We would also like to cover the wide range of sports and activities which people take part in, from football to fencing, netball, running, karate, dance and so much more.”
