GLAXO Hoad Hill Harriers members are looking forward to holding one of the biggest events on the club's racing calendar.

The Hoad Fell Race takes place on Thursday, July 6.

The Harriers' first open race of the year sees a switch in venues, with the new event replacing the Flan Fell Race as runners will now get the opportunity to race up to Ulverston's most famous landmark, the magnificent Sir John Barrow Monument, on top of the Hoad.

The races give spectators the chance to watch junior and senior runners as they climb up and over towards the monument and beyond before making their way down to the finish.

The junior race, which is just over a mile in distance, starts at 7pm, with the 1.75-mile senior race starting at 7.30pm and open to runners from 12 years old and upwards.

It is an interesting undulating course, giving budding fell runners a great opportunity to try and set the first records for the event.
