FORMER Tour of Britain jersey winners Mark McNally and Boy Van Poppel are among the latest riders to be confirmed for this year's race, which passes through Cumbria on September 5.

British rider McNally, who won the SKODA King of the Mountains title in 2014, and 2012 Chain Reaction Cycles Points classification victor Van Poppel are among four of the riders who were announced as taking part today.

McNally will be joined in the Wanty-Groupe Gobert team line-up by Enrico Gasparotto, who won the prestigious Dutch one-day Classic, the Amstel Gold Race, for the second time this year.

Former Paris-Tours winner Marco Marcato is also in the Belgian squad's provisional line-up, while Van Poppel is joined in the Trek-Segafredo team by Giro d'Italia points classification winner and reigning Italian National Road Race Champion Giacomo Nizzolo.

They join the likes of top sprinters Mark Cavendish and Andre Greipel in being confirmed for this year's Tour of Britain, with further announcements expected in the build-up to the race.

Spectators in the area can glimpse them in action when the peloton races between Carlisle and Kendal on the second stage of the 2016 Tour.
