WALNEY Terriers recorded the club's biggest ever victory with a 79-0 thrashing of Northumberland Lightning.
The Terriers' third win of the BAFA NFC 2 Central win of the season was pretty much wrapped up by half-time as they led 45-0 in the north east.
The gold and greens beat the same opposition four years ago in an affiliate game and they were always on top in this one as well after Callum Collwell gave them an early lead with a touchdown.
The visitors' defence worked hard to halt any advances from Northumberland and a turnover caused by some good work from Dominic Fielding gave them great field position from which Kyle Murphy scored.
With confidence high, the Terriers scored further first-half touchdowns from Collwell, Kris Raybould, Joe Allington, Phil Gillgrass and James Day.
The third quarter saw the Terriers restricted to a field goal from Jamie Falcon, but in the fourth quarter they were back in the end zone with further touchdowns from Murphy (2) Mark Turner and Chris Pedley.
The Terriers return to the North East for their next game on Sunday July 2 against much tougher opponents in Gateshead Senators.
