GLAXO Hoad Hill Harriers’ Christmas Pudding run takes place on Sunday.

The annual 10k and children’s one-mile fun are among the most popular races on the local calendar.

Runners weave their way through the streets of south Ulverston from Glaxo Sports Club, before heading out to Conishead Priory and retracing their steps on what is a fast and flat course.

Harriers runner Dave Fulford will be looking for a fourth success on his home course, after winning last year’s event in 34:32, while his club-mate Sharon Dixon is the reigning women’s champions, having got over the line in 41:46 in 2015.

Race director Louise Thompson said: “It’s a great race for the town, supported by so many of the local clubs, and we are really looking forward to seeing them all attending.”

The children’s fun run kicks off the day’s events at 11am, and the 10k starts at 11.30am.

All competitors who complete the races are presented with a Christmas pudding for their efforts.

Entries are open online at www.ukroadraces.info and postal entries will be accepted via the Glaxo Hoad Hill Harriers website.

Runners can also enter on the day, although organisers encourage people to enter in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly on race day.
