Millom v Upper Eden

MILLOM first team welcome Cumbria League leaders Upper Eden to Wilson Park, looking to bounce back from their defeat to Furness last time out.

Steve Watson, Dean Doyle and Kieron Rogan are the front three, with Joe Thomlinson and stalwart Ian Cummings in the second row pushing the front three on.

The ruck-and-maul are where games are won and lost, so Matthew Jordan, Trevor Dixon and player-coach Adam Redhead will need to be on their toes.

Young Robbie Pattinson has the number nine shirt and will link up with Chris Park at stand-off.

Kyle Barnes and Sy Robinson on the wings will look to get over the whitewash, with plenty of ball from centres Ryan Carter and Craig Mounsey.

Full-back Jordan Moyes brings up the rear and will look to get on the attack sooner rather than later. With Callum Lamont, Joe Moyes and Connor Sykes keeping the bench warm, Millom have every chance of beating the table toppers on their home turf .

Carlisle v Furness

FURNESS go into this game in upbeat mood following last week’s 25-5 home win over Millom as they take on a Carlisle side who have made a decent start to the Cumbria League season.

The Blues will hope to build on last week's performance and try to be more clinical in their finishing.

Joe Mallinson returns to partner brother Will, who had his usual solid game last week.

Dillan Taputu, Cam McClure and Ben Hughes make up a solid front row with ever-present workhorse Corne Els in the back row.

Joe Foxon made a big impact last time out and as such looks to be retaining his position at flanker following an athletic and solid performance in both attack and defence.

Fly-half Adam Nicholson is hoping to shake off an ankle injury to repeat a robust display that saw him score his first try of the season against Millom with a deceptive and rangy run to the line.

The Blues will look forward to the power of Ade White at centre to make some in-roads with the equally adept Ryan Cunningham able to latch on to scoring chances.

Making his debut at full-back last week, Lee Starkey had an impressive game capped by a well-taken individual try as he joined the line at pace.

Wigton v Hawcoat Park

AFTER defeat at home to Keswick, Hawcoat first team hit the road north to Wigton.

Unavailability due to work commitments and injury hits the squad, with a few changes likely and some A-teamers filling in.

There’s some familiarity to the front row with John Donnan and Andy Kent the props and Adam Grainger returning at hooker. With the influential Ash Mowat away, Grady Slater takes a second row shirt alongside Callum Ramsey.

Captain Brad Morrow returns to the back row and is joined by regulars Jason Priss and Alfie White.

Fingers are crossed that Blain Marwood is available to play scrum half and team up with James Howden at stand-off.

Out wide Rodney Odandi will play on one wing, with the returning Rob Shepherd on the other flank.

Chris Burns and Will Coles will operate in centre-field and they will have Lewis Sayle on hand at full-back to both join attack and clean up in defence.

Hawcoat Park seconds v Blackburn

SITTING in second place in the North West Raging Bull League, Hawcoat seconds are in great shape after a cup win at Clitheroe last weekend.

Tomorrow's home game against Blackburn promises to be a great game of rugby. Ryan Brown, Joe Rea, Mike Gibson will be looking for starting shirts in the front row along with Martin Kennedy, Luke Shaw and Mark Hall in the engine room.

The back row looks tasty with the superb Harrison O'Brien looking to continue where he left off last week. He will be joined by Connor Vetes-Young, Josh Vial, Peter Jennens, Richard Dalton and Boneham Peacock all looking to get in on the action.

Scrum half will see Adam Williamson and Scott Garnett both more than capable of taking on the role with stand-off Euan James keeping the jersey after a man of the match performance at Clitheroe.

The back division looks potent and the with strong-running Ethan Vial and Conor McDermott in the centres they have every chance of scoring points.

Workington Zebras v Windermere

HIGH-FLYING Windermere find themselves on the road travelling west to face Cumbria League bottom club Workington Zebras.

Despite the fact they lie second in the table, the Ambers would be fools to think this will be an easy day out.

If all the players can travel, Windermere will go strong and unchanged which will see captain Jamie Hardman, plus Dan Harrison and Steve Dixon in the front row.

The second row will be key and with Johnny Benson teaming up with Phil Murphy, the power is certainly there.

Breakdowns will need winning so Leon Surfontain, Josh Dawson and Paul Mahler’s afternoon will no doubt consist of scrambling around rucks for loose ball and bringing ensuing attackers to ground.

The partnership between David Wiggins and Bertie Hodgson seems to bearing fruit so with David Oakley and Andy Duncan outside them they appear to have the fire-power to take on all-comers.

The pace of Moses Dawson and Tom Atkinson is a real handful on the flanks, and when you throw Kane McMahon into the mix you have a recipe for success.
