THE race for top spot in the Barrow Monday League snooker and darts standings will go down to the wire.
The top-three snooker places are still to be decided with just one game remaining after to a stunning 5-1 win for the British Legion against leaders Soccer Bar.
Mike Smith, with a 25 clearance, led the way, receiving good support from Dave Dunn, Jack Arnold, Alf Carruthers and John Harker.
Alan Eaton’s win for the visitors could prove vital in the final standings.
Greengate are just three points behind following a hard earned 4-2 success at the Central. Tommy Barbour needed the last three colours to beat Jamie Thompson, while Allan Edmondson, Paul Deelay and Gary Barbour were comfortable victors.
John and Tony Macmillan took points for the Preston Street side.
West Shore are a further two points back after a 5-1 win at the Labour Club, who had Peter Millar to thank for saving the whitewash.
The darts league has reached a winner-takes-all finale, with the British Legion A and Greengate just one point apart ahead of meeting in the final game of the season.
Greengate edged past Central 4-2, courtesy of Ste Monk, Tommy Barbour, A Armstrong and Lee Brady. Tony Kelly and Moz Edmonds were winners for the Central.
Soccer Bar are guaranteed third place after a 5-1 victory at the British Legion, but West Shore are just two points behind fourth-placed Central after a 5-1 triumph at the Labour Club.
