CEMETERY Cottages took the honours in the Barrow Friday League Ted Phizacklea Four-man Darts competition.

The team of Steve Hetherington, Shaun McPoland, Alan Fraser and Dave Macmillan overcame defending champions Soccer Bar and Vickerstown CC to add the trophy to their league triumph.

Vickerstown defeated Navy Club B in the first semi-final at the British Legion.

Gareth Willis claimed the honours in the battle of the top men with Dave Simpson, with a 140 among his scores.

Chris Kirkby drew the Barrow Island side level with a win over Jimmy Allen, hitting a ton and checking out from double-one.

Paul Fitzpatrick (100) put the Cricketers ahead as he beat Dave Rafferty (2x100) and Vickerstown were 3-1 up as captain Bob Crosthwaite defeated Joe O'Leary (100).

The doubles game saw Willis and Crosthwaite pair up against Kirkby and Rafferty, their success sealing the match with a 66 knock-up.

The Cottages edged past the Soccer Bar 4-2, with McPoland (100) beating Mike Fletcher in the first singles game.

Pearson (98) overcame Fraser (100, 140, 100), as his opponent struggled on the double, to level the match, before Macmillan put the Cottages 2-1 ahead by beating Josh Howarth.

The last singles brought Soccer Bar captain Mike Edwards and Steve Hetherington together, both matching each other's score at the start. Edwards changing the pattern with a ton and stayed in front until the end, knocking up confidently to level the match.

McPoland and Macmillan set off in style as the former hit a 180, adding 82 and 97 as they beat Pearson and Fletcher in the first doubles game.

Fraser and Hetherington then saw off Howarth and Edwards in a tight game to earn them a place in the final.

McPoland (100) won a nervy first game against Vickerstown's Willis (125) and Fraser (2x100) made it 2-0 by beating Allen (136).

There was nothing to separate Macmillan and Fitzpatrick under the former pinched the game on double-eight to put the Cottages a point from victory.

Hetherington (100, 121, 100) sealed the triumph with a win over Crosthwaite, scoring heavily before hitting double-one at the death.

The Friday League thanked the British Legion for hosting the event and Alan Edmondson for scoring.
