COTTAGES moved 19 points clear at the top of the Lakeland Leisure Barrow Friday League darts standings after a 6-1 success against British Legion.
The leaders came back from the Christmas break in formidable style, taking all but one of their games on the knock-up.
Keith Moscrop (100) claimed the top-man’s game, backed up by Shaun McPoland (140), Dave Macmillan (100), Bill Bowes, Tony Macmillan (100) and Mala McCoy, who kept his 100 per cent record going.
Mike Smith (133) stopped the whitewash for lowly Legion.
Navy Club A had the edge over Barrow Football Supporters Club, winning 4-3 thanks to Ian Goodwin, Dave Armstrong and Neil Jones (134).
Replying for the home side were Mike Fletcher (100-125), Barry Butterworth (120) and Alan Eaton.
Vickerstown Cricket Club took advantage of their home board to triumph 5-2 over Roose Cons, as Gareth Willis (100), Brian Tucker (100, 70 knock-up), Jimmy Allen (100), David Holmes and Peter Scott 100 all picked up points. Nick Wilkes and Mike Irving were best for the Cons.
On the snooker table, the Soccer Bar stayed joint-top with the Cottages.
The Supporters Club beat Navy A 2-1, as Josh Howarth took the first point of the night over Ian Goodwin, a 33 break the difference.
Jimmy Christie potted blue and pink to beat Barry Crawford, while Navy's Geoff Turner took the scalp Alan Eaton, with a lucky pink the decider at the end.
Cottages landed two points at home to the British Legion.
Captain John Tyerman won comfortably against Mike Smith, but it was a tighter affair as Billy Burns had the edge over Colin Taylor, winning 54-40.
Legion captain Alf Carruthers did well in the colours and potted blue and pink to defeat Dave Simpson and pull a point back for the visitors.
Roose Cons took two victories at Vickerstown CC as Dave Kewley beat Josh Francis 67-41 and Mike Irving had the better of Anthony Holmes, 53-33.
Jimmy Allen stopped the dry rub but in a black-ball decider with Nick Wilkes.
On the billiards table, Vickerstown CC had an excellent result on home soil against Roose, taking all three games.
Gareth Willis showed the way with a 100-65 win, including an 18 break, over Peter Roberts, backed up by David Holmes against Ray Cooney and Peter Scott over Rob Chissim.
Last year’s champions British Legion took two games against the Cottages, giving them a six-point lead at the top.
Allan Edmondson taking the first with the help of a 22 break, while Steve Hetherington came back from a substantial deficit to take the second against Colin Taylor.
Kevin Quinn landed the final point of the evening, 100-81 over Tony Macmillan.
Joint-second-placed Navy A had a good 2-1 triumph against theSoccer Bar through Geoff Turner and Ian Goodwin.
Josh Howarth beat Alan Harris 100-92 in a tightly-fought game for the Supporters Club.
Cottages went top of the Welch Don league with a 3-1 win over British Legion. The regular pairings of Walter Bowes and Dave Leech, Paul Fieldhouse and Tony Macmillan, and Mala McCoy and Dave Macmillan all came out victorious.
Kevin Quinn and Alf Carruthers stopped the whitewash with 2-0 win over Steve Hetherington and Billy Bowes.
Another 3-1 success came from Navy A, to keeping them snapping at the heels of the leaders.
Captain Bryan Jones won twice, as did Keith Benson. Alan Bonner and Barry Butterworth saved grace for the Soccer Bar.
Vickerstown and Roose shared the spoils. David Holmes and Gareth Willis and Josh Francis and Bob Crosthwaite were the Cricketers' winners, with Bob Taylor and John Rawlinson and John Warburton and Jimmy Johnson best for the Cons.
Treble winners: Dave Holmes and Gareth Willis (Vickerstown Cricket Club), at billiards, darts and Welch Don.
