CASTLE were too strong as they overpowered lowly Central and increased their lead at the top of the Barrow and District Mixed Darts League.

James Kempster was once again in top form with scores of 134, 122 and 119. He was backed up by Kaytee Bispham (100), Karen Kirkby (125), Chris Irvine (100) and Dave Tindling (121).

Central’s replies came from Darren Singleton (132, 100) and Brian Rose (2x100).

Furness CC’s chances were dealt a blow as they lost against the Masons, who eased their relegation worries.

The Cricketers’ best were Luke Shaw (3x100), Jason Caine (140), Ryan Griffiths (177), and Josh Shaw (2x100).

For the Masons, Simon Whiteside (100), Chris Pickthall (2x100) and Gary Tippett (121) excelled.

The Harbour are still a threat, but only managed a narrow victory against the Vic Tavern. Best for the Harbour were Simon Kane (2x140), Mary Horner (100), Dave Eccles (140) and Tracy Clarke (100, 110 knock-up, the best of the night).

For the Tavern side, Ethan White (100), Chris Quirk (140, 100), Ann Morrison (111, 100), Dave Shaw (100) and Chris Geering (100) all hit good scores.

Kill-One’s chances dipped at the Red River, who can still pull off a great escape from relegation. Kerry Love (135), and Martin Rhodes (109 knock-up) were their top-scorers.

Denis Yeates (100), Lorraine Towers (116), Steve Caine (100) and Marc Ayers (2x100) all scored well for the Kill-One.

In Division One, Raiders Bar struggled against lowly Askam Rugby, but still cling on to top spot.

On form for the Raiders Bar were Scott McGurkin (121), Paul Dalton (2x140) and Eddie Backhouse (140).

For Askam Rugby, Jane Alexander (108) and Dave Lipscombe (134) played well.

The Brewery hauled themselves back into contention with a solid win against Kill-One A. Michelle Wall (100) and Simon Allday (100) were on form. Kill-One A’s top-scorer was Cath Hamer (117).

The Newton keep in touch with a good win over the Dirty Duck. Ann Phizacklea (121), Gavin Higgins (120, 100) and S Raven (100) were the Dalton side’s best.

For the Duck, Mike Wright (140, 100) and Mark Wright (100) both won well.

In Division Two, Labour Club cling on to top spot with a narrow win over the Ormsgill, who have improved their position and still have a chance of promotion.

Dave Pater (123) was the Gill’s best scorer, with Ryan Brown (137, 2x100 and a 108 knock-up in 21 darts) best for the Labour Club.

The Horse and Jockey came unstuck at the Albion but hold on to second spot. Lee Atkinson (100) and Vicky Marshall (100) were notable scorers for the Jockey side.

Semi-final draw for the Knock-Out Cup (games to be played on Monday): Kill-One v Furness CC (played at the Castle), Castle v Devonshire (played at the Kill-One).
