CYCLISTS were out in force for Kent Valley Road Club's Circuit of Wild Boar Fell time trial, from Sedbergh.
The sunny spring weather produced a new course record of 1hr 7mins for Simon Wilson (Brother NRG Pro Cycling), slicing almost a minute-and-a-half off the previous best for the hilly 28-mile Garsdale, Mallerstang and Cautley.
He finished ahead of Shap's Richard Bickley (Border City Wheelers), who clocked 1:08:38, and Furness's Dave Huck (Barrow Central Wheelers), who finished third in 1:09:08.
Kendal CC's Helen Jackson was fastest woman in 1:25:30 – despite starting 74 seconds late.
The event was part of the Lakes and Lancs Sporting Courses Series, and attracted 81 entrants from all across the North West and Yorkshire.
