THE Barrow Friday League wrapped up their season with the league champions taking on play-off winners and league select sides at the British Legion on presentation night.

The dominant British Legion billiards team overcame Vickerstown 2-0.

Colin Taylor forged his way past David Holmes, with a late 10 break sealing the win, before Kevin Quinn overcame Peter Scott – both holding the aggregate winner's prize during the season with breaks of 25 and 17 thrown in.

The final game between Legion captain Allan Edmondson and Vickerstown's Gareth Willis did not need to be played.

The Friday League select side defeated snooker champions Cottages 3-0.

Soccer Bar captain Alan Eaton was the first to triumph, beating Cottages skipper John Tyerman, despite a 21 break from the latter.

Eaton finished the game very confidently, taking the blue, pink and black to win a close game 56-42.

British Legion's Ray Gardner overcame Dave Simpson with the help on an early 22 break. Simpson replied with a 25, the Gardner took it on the pink after a tight battle among the colours,

Navy Club's Dave Wilkie completed the whitewash with success over snooker aggregate winner Billy Burns.

Burns forged ahead with a good 32 break, but Wilkie caught up and the game was level at 43-all going into the colours.

It could have gone either way, with Wilkie potting the black for the win.

Darts champions Cottages edged out the rest of the league 4-3.

Cottages captain and league individual champion Shaun McPoland ground out a win over highest knock-up winner Mike Fletcher with a three-dart 60 finish.

Keith Moscrop, the individual darts runner-up found his form with a 140 score to win a tight game against Andy Charnley.

Joe O’Leary was consistent in his win against Alan Fraser for the rest of the league, but Dave Macmillan had two ton scores in a hard-fought victory against Dave Wilkie to make it 3-1.

Billy Bowes (121-100) had the best game of the night against Chris Kirkby (140) to seal the win for the Cottages, but Anthony Holmes and Dave Armstrong (100) took the last two games for the rest of the league.

Play-off champions Roose Cons defeated league winners Navy Club A 3-1 in the Welch Don.

Bob Crosthwaite and Pat Fogharty were the first to finish, beating Brian Newby and Ray Procter 2-0, with Jimmy Johnson with aggregate winner John Warburton taking their game 2-1.

Peter Roberts and Mike Irving came good over Ian Goodwin and Pat Hunter, with Keith and Stuart Benson stopping the whitewash.

The Friday League thanked the British Legion committee for hosting the event, Denis Plant for taking photographs and Lisa Wilde for supplying the buffet.
