Millom lose unbeaten home record to leaders Hawcoat

MILLOM lost their unbeaten home record to a very determined Hawcoat Park, whose victory makes it 10 wins out of 10 so far in the Cumbria League season.
Despite the defeat, it was a much-improved performance by the home team than in their recent defeat at Furness with everyone giving 100 per cent, which has been sadly missing in recent games.
It was a tight first half, with both sets of forwards trying to get the upper hand and both sides really committed to the tackle. The only score came from the boot of Hawcoat Park full-back Adam Jackson who landed a good penalty after 30 minutes to give the table-toppers a 3-0 lead at the break.
The first 20 minutes of the second half were just as close but after an indiscretion at a breakdown, a penalty was awarded and Jackson kicked the goal to make the score 6-0.
Millom had a good spell then and only a last-ditch tackle in the corner prevented Millom winger Shane Clark from scoring when he lost the ball over the line.
Park then produced a good passing movement down the three-quarter line and good support allowed Andy Graham to score an unconverted try in the corner, making the score 11-0. And a second try by Jon Moses in the final minute completed the scoring.
