ULVERSTON Golf Club are building for the future as new players continue to take up the sport at Bardsea despite the inclement spring weather.

Club professional Alyn Cousins has been pleased to see a large number of both juniors and ladies taking part in regular coaching sessions as the club tries to broaden the membership base.

Weekly junior coaching sessions have brought in new players, and Cousins said: “Even though the weather has not been great this April and May, we are still experiencing a growing interest in golf. Our junior weekend coaching sessions are going down a storm, with around 25 little golfers attending our Saturday coaching sessions.

“We have various fun golfing activities and challenges set up and it’s great to see so many turning out each week, improving and learning the key skills golf can provide, such as balance, posture, co-ordination, respect, teamwork and friendship.”

On the women’s coaching sessions, the PGA pro added: “We also have a good number of ladies attending our group coaching sessions.

“A variety of ladies aged from 20 up have been enjoying learning how to play golf in these social and fun sessions.

“Getting into golf has never been so easy. In fact, these sessions have become so popular we will be putting some extra men’s sessions on for those wanting to take up golf.”

There are two hourly junior sessions for under-11s each Saturday, with the coaching free for club members.

Ladies group sessions cost £5 each, which includes range balls and equipment hire.

Anyone interested in attending either set of session can contact Alyn Cousins on 07881 381957.
