It was also a bad day for GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves as they were knocked out of the Furness Junior Cup at the quarter-final stage with a 1-0 defeat to Millom reserves.

It was a match played in glorious sunshine, but the game didn’t live up the weather with Rangers having to make ten changes from their previous match and always up against it, against a Millom side who are having a solid season.

Millom edged the first half on possession but they didn’t make the breakthrough until after the break when a cross-come-shot from Jordan Brumby caught the home goalkeeper out and sneaked in at his front post.

Millom pressed for a second and missed a couple of good opportunities to make the last 10 minutes a lot easier.

GSK’s last throw of the dice was to throw the big lads up front and resort to a plan B of long high balls, and although this created a few pieces of goalmouth action the Millom defence held solid.
