MILLOM go into tomorrow's derby with Furness Rovers flying high in West Lancs Division Two.

The Devonshire Road side made it six wins from six in midweek with a 3-0 victory at Dalton United.

Phil Edmondson scored a brace and Carl Waters took his season's tally to a league-leading eight with a late goal.

Millom sit second behind Ladybridge on goal-difference alone, with the two sides having opened up a five-point gap on the rest of the league in the early going. They also have the best defensive record in the division, having conceded just three times in those six matches.

By contrast, tomorrow's opponents Rovers are the only pointless side in the division, losing five from five so far and yet to find the back of the net.

A 6-0 home defeat at the hands of a rampant Kendal United in midweek followed a 5-0 beating while hosting Leyland United last weekend. They will hope their travels can bring them more joy.

Reece Fleming put Walney ahead in the first half and Scott McDonald doubled the lead early in the second half. Jordan Belcher saved a penalty before Matt Lockley smashed home two goals somewhat against the run of play.

Ryan Rogers scored a well-taken volley for Cavaliers late in the game.

In Division One at Longlands Park, Askam came from behind to beat Crooklands Casuals 2-1. Kieran Clark gave Cassies a sixth-minute lead, but goals from Mikey Thompson and Declan Baines were enough to hand Askam all three points.

Hawcoat’s game at Kendal County was abandoned after Ryan Brown suffered a nasty knee injury. Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery and hopes he is back on the park soon.

GSK Ulverston Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Milnthorpe Corinthians. Chris Bolton scored for GSK.

Vickerstown travelled to Whitehaven to play them under floodlights in the Premier Division, and the spoils were shared as Joe Pearson scored a terrific headed goal in a 1-1 draw.

Furness Cavaliers reserves beat Dalton United reserves 2-0, with Matt Hargreaves and Joe Blackshaw both on target.

After having their last two fixtures postponed through no fault of their own, Haverigg United picked up a welcome three points after a 2-1 win over Millom reserves. John Chmiel scored both goals for Haverigg, and the evergreen Mike Brown replied for Millom.
