HOLKER Old Boys extended their winning run in the North West Counties first division to six matches and are now unbeaten in 10 league games after they came away from Stockport Town’s artificial pitch with all three points from a 2-1 victory, writes PAUL WRIGHT.

Phil Coombe gave Holker a great start, scoring after two minutes, but the home side, who are third in the table, equalised four minutes later.

Brad Hubbold scored what proved to be the winner in the 68th minute to move The Stags up to fifth in the table.

Scott Redhead’s side are now nine points off top place with five games in hand but face a busy remaining three months of the season, having at least 20 games to play.

Weather permitting, they entertain Daisy Hill tomorrow night at Rakesmoor (7.45pm kick-off).

The weather was again the winner with most of the games not played on 3G pitches being postponed.

Hawcoat Park travelled to Bolton to play on Ladybridge’s artificial surface and returned home with a point following a 2-2 draw.

Nathan Reid put Hawcoat 1-0 up, but the home side came back to lead 2-1 before Reid scored his second of the game with five minutes left.

The point moves Hawcoat up to fifth in the West Lancashire League Division One table. All but one of the Furness Premier League’s scheduled games were postponed but once again the fixture at Wilson Park, Haverigg survived.

Haverigg United took full advantage by beating an under-strength Barrow Celtic 5-3 to move within a point of the top two in the Rifleman’s Garage Premier Division standings.

The game was slow to get going but Haverigg eventually broke the deadlock from the penalty spot through John Chmiel and the same player made it 2-0 almost straight away.

Celtic pulled a goal back with the last kick of the first half but early in the second half it was 4-1 through Luke Chmiel and John Chmiel, who completed his hat-trick.

Celtic responded again to make it 4-2 but Luke Chmiel restored the three-goal advantage.

With 15 minutes to go Haverigg keeper Russell Lowe, who had been in excellent form, conceded a penalty and was sent off. Luckily for Haverigg they had a sub keeper. However Craig Robinson couldn’t stop it becoming 5-3.

With Danny Munroe playing well, Haverigg were able to ensure there were no further goals and they claimed three more vital points.

Celtic’s scorers were Jack Dulgnan, Craig Woodburn and Jacob McParland.
