VICKERSTOWN reserves progressed to the semi-finals of the Terry Clinton Trophy following a dramatic a sudden-death penalty shoot-out victory over Croftlands.

A pulsating clash at Park Vale saw Vickerstown go 2-0 up, with goals from brothers Jackson Round and Dave Round Junior, but Croftlands levelled matters courtesy of a Matt Dean header and a Callum Allardyce volley.

A Dean free-kick with just five minutes remaining looked to have sealed a great comeback for the visitors, but Town skipper Mike Imison scored with the last kick of the game to bring on the dreaded penalties.

Croftlands had a kick to win the shoot-out but home keeper Josh Tranter saved to send it to sudden death and Ian Rogers scored for Vickerstown and Croftlands missed to send the home side through.

In the other Terry Clinton Trophy tie, Furness Cavaliers reserves progressed to the semis at the expense of Britannia, with a Pete Dixon goal enough to win the game.

Young Ryan Fagan added another twist in the race for the Furness Premier Division title as his hat trick, including a last-minute penalty, saw bottom club Furness Rovers reserves draw 3-3 with defending champions Kirkby United.

Matty Bruce, Tom Wildgoose and Dan Marshall scored for the Villagers.

Holker Old Boys reserves beat Bootle 2-1 at Rakesmoor, with Robbie Wallace netting both the goals for the hosts.

Haverigg United moved up to sixth with a 2-1 win at GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves, Anthony Foster and John Chmiel scoring the goals for Haverigg.

Millom reserves had another good win, as they beat Swarthmoor reserves 3-1. Jamie Cairns, Josh Keen and Chris Wood scored for Millom.

Barrow Celtic stay in third after a convincing 4-0 win at Walney Island reserves, with Connor Smith (3) and Jono France on target.

In The Horne Cup there was an upset as second-from-bottom Holker A beat league leaders and title favourites Coniston 2-1.

Phil Edmondson scored for Coniston, but Billy Moss and Andy Benn replied for Holker.

Elsewhere in the same competition, Kirkby United reserves were beaten 2-1 by Ormsgill North End. Mike Code scored for Kirkby but Danny Cunningham (penalty) and Carl Gill sent Ormsgill through.

The final tie of the night saw Askam United reserves beat Bootle reserves 4-1. Chris Scott netted for Bootle.

Midweek West Lancs League Division Two action saw a fiery derby take place at Rampside Road as Furness Cavaliers beat Swarthmoor 4-2.

A Kyle Delves hat-trick and a Ryan Rogers strike netted for Cavaliers, with Swarthmoor’s replies coming from an own goal and a Ben Dryden strike.

In the North West Counties Division One, Holker Old Boys gained a point through a 1-1 draw at home to Bacup Borough.

Mike Rushton scored Holker’s goal after they had gone behind to a first-half penalty.
