VICKERSTOWN reserves won the Terry Clinton Memorial Trophy with a 1-0 final victory against Haverigg United at Dalton United’s Railway Meadow.
Both teams struggled to create any clear-cut chances in the first half, and it took a Jackson Round free-kick to break the deadlock and put Vickerstown 1-0 ahead at the break.
Town had chances to add to their tally in the second period, but some wasteful finishing along with some good goalkeeping kept Haverigg in touch.
In the last 15 minutes, United threw everything at their opponents in search of an equaliser.
The Vickerstown back-four was in no mood to give up a clean sheet and they held out to go home with the cup.
