Askam and Hawcoat to clash in Shield

LOCAL rivals Askam United and Hawcoat Park have been spliced together in the Lancashire FA Amateur Shield first round draw.
West Lancashire League Division Two outfit Askam will host Division One Hawcoat on Saturday, September 15.
Premier Division sides Vickerstown and Crooklands Casuals – the latter won promotion last season – have both been handed home ties, against CMB Sports Club (Bolton) and Fulwood Amateurs (Preston) respectively.
Division One Dalton United, meanwhile, face an intriguing away trip to Merseyside Police.
Lancashire FA Amateur Shield first round draw (local ties only): Crooklands Casuals v Fulwood Amateurs, Merseyside Police v Dalton United, Vickerstown v CMB Sports Club, Lostock St Gerards v Furness Rovers, Furness Cavaliers v Bolton County, AFC Bury v GSK Ulverston Rangers, Ladybridge v Walney Island, Askam United v Hawcoat Park, Millom v Thornton Cleveleys.
The West Lancashire League have also released their fixtures for the first two months of the 2012/13 season, with the action kicking off on Saturday, August 4.
Crooklands Casuals will begin life in the top flight with a home game against Burnley United, while Vickerstown host Euxton Villa.
The two local sides will then clash in a night match at Park Vale on Tuesday, August 7.
Division Two newcomers Barrow Wanderers – Furness Premier League champions in each of the last two seasons – start with a home match against Kendal County at Lesh Lane.
Opening week West Lancashire League fixtures (local teams only): Saturday, August 4 (3pm): Premier Division: Crooklands Casuals v Burnley United, Vickerstown v Euxton Villa.
Division One: Mill Hill St Peters v Furness Rovers, Millom v Garstang, Norcross and Warbreck v Hawcoat Park, Turton v Dalton United, Wyre Villa v Ambleside United.
Division Two: Barrow Wanderers v Kendal County, Bolton County v Askam United, Hurst Green v Furness Cavaliers, Walney Island v Milnthorpe Corinthians.
Tuesday, August 7 (6.45pm): Premier Division: Vickerstown v Crooklands Casuals. Division One: Furness Rovers v Hawcoat Park, Garstang v Dalton United, Millom v Ambleside United. Division Two: Askam United v Furness Cavaliers, Milnthorpe Corinthians v GSK Ulverston Rangers, Walney Island v Kendal County.
