WALNEY Island and Garstang fought out a 2-2 draw in an eventful match on a bitterly cold Tummerhill.

The home side were dominant in the first half with the strong breeze behind them. An own goal and a good finish from Matt Lockley gave them a 2-0 half-time lead.

Garstang started the second half brighter and a free-kick that was drilled under the wall beat the keeper to half the arrears.

Walney were then awarded a penalty for handball after a last-ditch save on the line by a Garstang defender also saw him red carded.

The Garstang keeper saved the penalty and this seemed to lift the visitors who then went on to find a late equaliser.

A share of the points on the day was a fair result as Garstang really dug in when reduced to 10 men.

Just round the corner at Park Vale Vickerstown played Lostock St Gerards and this game was full of incident aswell.

Vickerstown took the lead through Sean Paterson when the ex-Kirkham striker made no mistake in finishing off a good move.

The same player was then shown a red card for a full-blooded challenge and Lostock equalised not long after half-time.

Another Vickerstown player was then given his marching orders after two yellow cards and with nine men with over half an hour to play, it looked like a bad day at the office for Dave Round’s men.

But they defended superbly and in the last minute Dave Jepson beat three players and fired home the winner for Vickerstown.
