SUBER-SUB Steve Kewley bagged a brace as Vickerstown made progress in the LFA Amateur Shield with a 4-2 defeat of Lytham St Annes.

On a glorious day at Park Vale, Town skipper Dave Round Junior latched onto a lay off from Danny Keenan to open the scoring, finishing expertly with the outside of his right foot.

Lytham were some good football, but some no-nonsense defending by Scott Hammond and Dave Jepson, along with some safe handling from keeper Andy Ireland, kept chances to a minimum in the first half.

The second half started with Lytham pushing on looking for an equaliser and they didn’t have to wait long until a through ball was latched onto and Tomlinson who rounded Ireland to slot home.

This goal seemed to spur the home team into life and midfield duo of Dix and Round junior started to find their passing range to the forwards.

On the hour mark Kewley was brought into the game and only minutes after coming on he was on the end of a through ball from Round junior before beating two defenders and the goalkeeper to finish off a great move.

Minutes later Round junior fired a shot into the top corner from 25 yards which gave the keeper no chance. The home side were now 3-1 up and playing some great football which culminated in Kewley getting his second goal from another assist from Keenan. Lytham centre half Waite scored a consolation.
