AS with all matches this weekend, the two teams held a minute’s silence for Crooklands Reserves manager Greg Unsworth before the game, which was impeccably observed.

The game between Furness Rovers and Furness Cavaliers was a real relegation six-pointer, with the sides occupying the bottom two spots in the West Lancashire League Division Two.

Both sides started slowly but on the 20-minute mark Cavaliers’ danger man Kyle Delves got the ball wide and managed to beat his man and sneak his shot inside the near post to put them 1-0 up.

Rovers levelled matters when Rob While hit a long-range effort through a crowded box which gave Cavaliers keeper Bickerdike no chance.

Rovers then took the lead when Chris Low pounced on a through ball and slid the ball home neatly for a half-time advantage of 2-1.

Cavs came out with a different outlook and the introduction of sub Joe Blackshaw had an impact as the youngster caused problems all over the pitch, and on 65 minutes Nathan Shaw finished well to level the scores and set up a humdinger of a finish.

On 80 minutes Cavaliers went ahead with a goal slotted away nicely by impact sub Blackshaw.

It was a nervy last 10 minutes for both sides as Rovers went in search of the equaliser, and it was Bickerdike who was the hero as he made two great reflex saves in the 92nd minute to deny Rovers and secure a valuable three points for Cavaliers.

Elsewhere in the second division Millom drew 1-1 at Euxton Villa Reserves, Phil Edmondson the Millom scorer.

In Division One Askam’s poor run continued with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Lytham Town. Hawcoat picked up a point on the road after an Elliott Moore strike saw them draw 1-1 at Eagley.

GSK Ulverston Rangers lost 2-1 at home to Stoneclough. A James Pinnegor penalty levelled the scores but GSK lost out to a late goal.

Crooklands drew 3-3 with Fulwood Amateurs Reserves, Dave Mansergh, Jack Gardner and the returning Chris Wraighte were all on target for Cassies.

In the Premier Division Vickerstown lost 2-1 to high-flying Garstang. Sean Paterson scored the goal.

In the North West Counties Division One Holker welcomed Silsden who prior to the game had won 17 out of 17. However, a Nath Reid strike in the 90th minute put paid to that record and gave Holker a fantastic 1-0 win.

Furness Premier League leaders Hawcoat Reserves strengthened their position at the top with a 6-1 win over Furness Cavaliers Reserves. Tom Hammond (2), Carl Pearson (2), Jack Elliot and Harry Speirs shared the goals for Hawcoat. Callum Lamb scored a consolation for Cavs.

Croftlands came from 2-0 down to draw 3-3 with Kirkby. Ryan Ireland, Matt Dean and an own goal made up the Croftlands tally.

Britannia and Haverigg drew 2-2. Dean Crossman and Liam Holmes scored for the Brit. A Jack Cullen goal and a 94th-minute strike by Gav Scudamore levelled the scores for Haverigg.

Coniston picked up only their fourth point of the season after a 1-1 draw with Vickerstown Reserves.

Coniston’s John Jardine and Vickerstown’s Ryan Docherty swapped goals in this fixture. Millom Reserves and Holker Old Boys also shared the spoils after a 2-2 draw. Nath McHugh grabbed both Holker’s goals. Matt Pachul and Andrew Woodburn were both on target for Millom.

Walney beat Bootle 5-0. Kieran Sollaway (2) Kane Moffatt, Seth Storey and Luca Fleming with the Walney goals.

First Division league leaders Hawcoat A mirrored their reserve team with a fine win, theirs came by way of a 5-1 victory over Millom A. Tom Stanwix, Jake Reynolds, Chris Scott and Sam Fell (2) were Hawcoat’s marksmen. Mark O’Brien scored for Millom.

Barrow Celtic Reserves lost 3-2 to Furness Rovers Reserves. Josh Haney and Roman Bibby scored for Celtic but Owen Griffith (2) and a Joe Walker strike secured the points for Rovers.

Bridge also lost 3-2 at home to Swarthmoor Reserves. Josh Greenwood scored a brace for Bridge. Rikki Gallagher (2) and Jack Moore were on target for Swarthmoor.

Vickerstown A were 2-0 up at home to Ormsgill with only five minutes remaining after goals from Mike Robinson and Stu Tippett, but Steve Crompton and Paul Fleming pulled Ormsgill level and they nearly snatched a winner in the last minute.

Barrow Wanderers beat Haverigg United Reserves 1-0 thanks to a Jed Wilkinson goal.

After the sad news earlier in the week surrounding the passing of Crooklands Reserves manager Unsworth, Cassies went out and beat Askam United Reserves 5-0.

It was fitting that three players he had as juniors, Louis Jones, Jake Stiendl and Ben Phizacklea (2) all scoring in the game. Sam Johnson bagged the fifth.

Croftlands Park sit atop of the Second Division after 2-1 win at Holker Old Boys A.

Jon Lowes scored a cracking 25-yarder for Holker but Jamie Howell and Charlie Segger did the damage for Croftlands. British Legion lie second in the table and they had a resounding 6-0 win over Millom St James’

Paul Williams (2), Carl Gill (2) Derran Johnson and Connor Bone were the Legion’s scorers.

GSK Ulverston Rangers Reserves beat Barrow Celtic A 3-2. Kamil Bitner and Reece Rigg for GSK and a Scott Burgess double for Celtic had the game level, but Stu Smith popped up with a last-minute winner. Walney A drew 0-0 away at Bootle Reserves.
