MILLOM are on the hunt for a new manager to help them in their quest for promotion from West Lancs Division Two.

The Devonshire Road side finished fifth in the division last season, the highest-ranked of five teams from South West Cumbria.

Millom have a solid playing base, with a mix of young up-and-coming players blended with more experienced individuals.

They have other teams in the Furness Premier League set-up – with Millom A winning Division Two last season and the reserves picking up the Furness Junior Cup.

There are approximately 70 players involved in the senior sides, while they recently merged with the town's junior section, which has teams from under-sixes up to under-16s levels.

Millom secretary Steve Allington said of the hunt for a first-team boss: “We are looking for a volunteer manager who will be ultimately responsible for the football side of the club.”

“The club’s ambitions lie above our Division Two, status and we would wish to appoint someone with equal thoughts.

“The committee is proactive and committed and would give the successful applicant their full support.

Millom train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and games are played on Saturdays at Hanna Field and across the West Lancashire League.

Allington added: The post requires excellent communication and player management skills, self-motivation and enthusiasm for the game and a willingness to push this club forward.

“The club has a proud history within the West Lancashire divisions and we feel the post is a very exciting opportunity for someone looking to be fully involved in the running of a successful football club.”

Anyone interested in applying for the Millom job should contact Steve Allington via email to steve.allington@btinternet.com or on 07736 053343. The closing date for applications is Friday, June 16.
