MATCHES keep coming thick and fast as the amateur football season fairly races through its first month.

Ahead of a full fixture list tomorrow, a large number of the area's sides played in midweek.

Holker Old Boys made the trip to Daisy Hill on the back of two good results in North West Counties Division One and took the lead through Dave Swarbrick, with his third goal in as many games.

Daisy Hill equalised before half-time, but it was Holker who finished the half on the front foot, hitting the woodwork twice and putting the home goal under constant threat.

Midway through the second half, Hill took the lead after some neat build-up play and the game finished 2-1.

Old Boys will look to bounce back from their first defeat of the season when they play Eccleshall tomorrow.

In West Lancs Division Two, Furness Cavaliers beat Walney 2-1 with goals from Ryan Rogers and Kyle Delves. Walney's reply came from Will Savage.

Millom hosted Swarthmoor and ran out 3-1 winners. Carl Waters opened the scoring with a penalty on 35 minutes.

Rikki Gallagher equalised in the same fashion for Swarthmoor just before the hour-mark, but Millom finished the stronger and another goal from Waters, along with a Ben McDonald strike gave the home side all three points.

Crooklands Casuals defeated Vickerstown 3-1 in the Premier Division. In an open game, it was Crooklands who were 2-0 up at half-time through Dave Mansergh, with two great strikes.

Vickerstown had chances to get back into the game before the break and Cassies had opportunities to kill the game off in the first five minutes of the second half.

Dave Goude put Crooklands three up before JP Stanway tucked away a penalty for the visitors.

In Division One, Askam beat Dalton 4-0 at Railway Meadow. Jordan Rayner struck twice in between goals from Callum Rayner and Kris McLean.

GSK Ulverston Rangers hosted Hawcoat Park and it was the visitors who took the spoils with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Reece Fleming, Nathan Reid and an Elliot Moore penalty. Rangers host Dalton in another derby match tomorrow.

The Furness Premier Division saw seven games played in fantastic midweek conditions.

Barrow Celtic defeated Walney reserves 2-1 with goals from Rob Johnson and Andrew Hainey. Simon Bassett replied for Walney.

Bootle hosted Kirkby and, in a close game, Kirkby were 2-1 winners with goals from Matty Bruce and Tom Wildgoose. Aaron Bradley netted for the home side.

Free-scoring Britannia made it 14 goals in two games with a 5-1 victory over Furness Cavaliers reserves.

The game was finely poised at one-all at half-time, with Dillon James scoring for the Brit and Macaulay Woods grabbing the equaliser for Cavaliers against his former club.

Britannia were much the better side in the second half, with goals from Sean Darby, Jonny Moore, Mark Heseltine and Jordan Wallace.

Furness Rovers reserves and Vickerstown reserves played out a 2-2 draw on the Training Pitch. Jackson Round, with a penalty and a neat finish, put Vickerstown firmly in the driving seat, but a below-par second-half performance coupled, with a Furness Rovers resurgence, turned the game on its head and goals from Jack Haughian and an equaliser from Scott Goulding in the dying minutes meant the points were shared.

Croftlands Park got their season up and running with a 3-2 win at Hawcoat Park. Croftlands' goals came from Macauley Dixon (2) and Ben Mooney. Carl Mackay and Ben Stoker scored for Hawcoat.

Millom reserves put in a great performance to beat Haverigg United 6-0 at Hannah Field. Chris Woods bagged a hat-trick, with Dave Cooper, Josh Keen and Andrew Woodburn also netting. GSK Ulverston reserves made the short trip to Park Road to play Swarthmoor reserves and were 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Prosser and Pinnegor. Graham Wilcox scored for Swarthmoor.
