THE top two in the Furness Premier League went head to head in the Terry Clinton Cup quarter-final, with Kirkby United romping to a 5-3 win over Hawcoat Park reserves.

Kirkby started brightly playing with the wind at their backs and Paul Cleasby opened the scoring with a 30-yard thunderbolt.

Hawcoat got back on level terms when Rees again finished after a goalmouth scramble. In the second half, playing against the wind, Kirkby really took the game to Hawcoat.

GSK Ulverston Rangers also occupy one of the relegation places after a 4-3 defeat away at Hurst Green.
