VICKERSTOWN head into the weekend with an extra spring in their step after claiming a first win of the season.

A 3-1 home victory against Whitehaven saw Town claim their first three points of the campaign ahead of tomorrow's visit from Thornton Cleveleys.

Danny Keenan opened the scoring after 15 minutes at Park Vale in midweek and Rob Bruce doubled before Whitehaven halved the deficit ahead of half-time.

After the break, Vickerstown were much the better side and a Danny Cummings goal on the hour-mark secured all three points.

Crooklands Casuals were not so fortunate, as they made the trip to Garstang and were on the wrong end of a 7-1 scoreline.

Going in at half-time 2-1 down thanks to a Steve Caskie goal, Crooklands were well in the game and could have been level had goalkeeper Kev Edwards not missed a penalty.

A second half to forget saw them ship in five further goals. They will be out to improve at home to Lostock St Gerards tomorrow afternoon.

In Division One, Hawcoat Park remain unbeaten and among the pace-setters ahead of a local derby at Dalton United tomorrow.

They kept up their run of six games without defeat with a good 3-1 home win in their midweek derby with GSK Ulverston Rangers.

Jack Gardner put GSK ahead prior to the half-time break, but Hawcoat hit three in the second half, with goals from Elliot Moore (2) and Pat Allington.

Askam United produced an excellent performance to beat Milnthorpe Corinthians 4-1 on the same night, with goals from Ryan Brown, Jordan Rayner and two from Ross Walker.

Millom and Furness Cavaliers played out a 2-2 midweek draw at Hannah Field in Division Two.

Danny Pattinson opened the scoring for Millom, before Ryan Rogers and then Aaron Holligan put Cavs 2-1 up. Carl Waters equalised for Millom from the penalty spot.

Swarthmoor beat Walney Island 3-2, with Sean Nicholson (2) and Phil Edmondson sharing the goals. Mitchell Wright and James Bailey were both on the scoresheet for the Islanders.

Millom are the best placed of the South Cumbrian sides, lying in third place, with 12 points from seven games and just one defeat to their name ahead of tomorrow's trip to Blackpool Wren Rovers reserves.

Holker Old Boys travel to Alsager Town in North West Counties Division One tomorrow on the back of a 3-0 midweek home defeat to newly-promoted Charnock Richard.

In the Riflemans Garage Furness Premier Division, while teams are taking points off each other, Barrow Celtic lead the field with a 100 per cent record thanks to five wins on the spin.

The latest, a 2-0 victory over Furness Rovers reserves, came through goals from Conner Smith and Rob Johnson.

Furness Cavaliers reserves were defeated 3-1 by GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves at Rampside Road.

Mike Robinson opened the scoring for Cavs and they also saw a chance come back off the post, but an improved second half by GSK saw them hit back with a brace from Reis Sharp and one from Sam Pinnegor.

Croftlands Park beat Britannia 3-1, as Matt Dean, Callum Allardyce and Paul Shields found the net. Andy Whiteford replied for the Brit.

Kirkby returned to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Millom reserves. John Marrs, Andrew Benson and Rob Fugler scored Kirkby's goals, with Cooper and Wood on target for Millom.

Vickerstown reserves suffered their second defeat in a row as they went down 3-0 at home to Hawcoat Park reserves. Mike Wilkes, Ben Stoker and James Mitchell grabbed a goal apiece for Hawcoat.

Walney Island reserves were beaten 1-0 on Tummerhill by Holker Old Boys reserves. Holker's goalscorer was Sam Lightfoot and Haverigg and Bootle played out a 0-0 draw at Wilson Park.
