CROOKLANDS Casuals reserves will take on Barrow Wanderers in the Horne Cup final, writes Steve Brennan.

Cassies booked their place with a 4-2 semi-final victory over Vickerstown A in their midweek clash at Park Vale.

A Phil Athersmith goal and a Mike Robinson thunderbolt put Town 2-1 up after Scott Phizacklea had opened the scoring for Cassies. However in the last thirty minutes Crooklands were too strong and goals from Ben Phizacklea, Kev Edwards and a cool finish from Charlie Seggar saw them progress to the final.

In the other semi-final, Wanderers defeated lower-league opposition Millom A by an 8-0 margin.

Sam Johnson opened the scoring after a minute, and Ryan Docherty (2) Jonny Grimes, Nath Collett (2) Jed Wilkinson and Andy Forristal finished the job.

Furness Cavaliers Reserves lost 3-1 to Holker Old Boys Reserves in the Paul Wilson Cup semi-final. Matty Gregg scored for Cavs, but the in-form Chris Wraighte (2) and Ben Rebello made sure of Holker’s passage into the showpiece final.

In the same competition, but only at the second round stage, GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves beat Britannia 3-0. Dean Crossman (2) and Sam Pinnegor netted for GSK.

Haverigg finished their Furness Premier League season with a 4-0 win over Swarthmoor Reserves. John Chmiel bagged a hat-trick and Anthony Foster grabbed a goal for the Terry Clinton Cup finalists.

Dalton United Reserves confirmed their promotion back to the FPL with a 1-0 over Division One champions Coniston. Mark Jones scored the all-important goal.

Furness Premier League leaders Croftlands lost 2-1 against Furness Cavaliers Reserves. Matt Dean scored for Croftlands, but a Brad Carroll double gave Cavs all three points.

This allowed Barrow Celtic to close the gap to a point after a 7-1 win against Swarthmoor Reserves. Connor Smith (2) Rob Johnson (2) Zak Parker, Andy Hainey and James Sloan were the Celtic goal scorers.

Vickerstown Reserves’ 10-game winning streak run came to a halt with a 2-1 defeat at GSK Ulverston Rangers Reserves. Jackson Round scored for Vickerstown and Sam Pinnegor and Ronan Simpson replied with a goal each for Rangers.
