RISING Manchester City star Georgia Stanway has been nominated for the PFA Young Player-of-the-Year Award.

The Barrow teenager – who has just returned from helping fire England Under-19s to the European Championships – is one of six players up for the award.

The Professional Footballers Association shortlist also includes her City team-mates Nikita Pariss and Keira Walsh, as well as Chelsea's Millie Bright, Birmingham City's Jess Carter and Liverpool's Caroline Weir.

Stanway Tweeted: “A huge honour to be nominated for @PFA Young player of the year, congratulations especially to my @ManCityWomen teammates!"

Last season saw Stanway score four goals in as many Women's Super League starts – including a hat-trick against Sunderland – while she fired in a goal-of-the-season contender against Liverpool in the Women's FA Cup.

City went on to win the WSL with an unbeaten record, while also picking up the Continental Cup.

Already this year, they have reached the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League – where they face champions Lyon – and of the FA Cup – in which they play Liverpool.

Stwanway's City team-mates Lucy Bronze, Jane Ross and Jill Scott are up for the women's Player-of-the-Year award, along with Weir, Ellen White and Karen Carney.

The awards – which also see Chelsea's N'Golo Kante and Eden Hazard nominated for the men's Player-of-the-Year award – will be announced at Grosvenor House, London, on Sunday, April 23.
