CONNOR Smith bagged a hat-trick as Barrow Celtic edged out Holker Old Boys reserves 3-2 on a busy Wednesday evening in the Furness Premier League.

Smith grabbed all three for the visitors to keep them third in the standings, with Stephen Forbes and Robbie Wallace replying for Holker.

Jamie Slater and Kyle Jefferson denied Kirkby United the chance to go top of the Premier Division after helping Croftlands Park secure a 2-1 victory. Paul Cleasby replied for Kirkby.

Celtic are three points off first-placed Hawcoat Park reserves, with three games in hand, and only a point behind second-placed Kirkby, who have played two games more.

A stunning volley from Robbie McMurdo in the closing stages proved enough for Vickerstown reserves to snatch all three points in a 1-0 win at home to Haverigg United.

Hakan McCracken doubled up for Furness Rovers reserves in their 3-1 win over Swarthmoor reserves, with Scott Goulding getting the other for Rovers.

Dave Cooper, Josh Keen, Chris Wood, plus a penalty from Andrew Woodburn, saw Millom reserves get the better of Britannia 4-3. Ryan Jackson's brace and one from Ross Walker accounted for the Brit's goals.

James Bailey and Kane Moffett were on target for Walney Island reserves as they beat GSK Ulverston Rangers reserves 2-1. Peter Spence got the consolation for Ulverston.

The other game in the top division saw Cain Scott on target for Furness Cavaliers reserves with a free-kick as they lost 3-1 to Bootle.

In Division One, Scott McCabe scored twice from set-pieces and Gareth Jones slotted home a penalty in Dalton United reserves' 3-1 win at Coniston. Phil Edmondson was on target for the home side.

The prolific Carl Waters added two more to his tally in a Millom shirt as they overcame Swarthmoor 4-1 in the West Lancashire League First Division.

Drew Postlethwaite and Matthew Towler added one each for the visitors and Phil Edmondson grabbed Swarthmoor's goal.

Elsehwere, Holker Old Boys suffered an 8-0 defeat to top-of-the-table Charnock Richard in North West Counties League Division One.

Holker boss Brian Dawson will hope for some home comforts when his side return to action tomorrow against Silsden at Rakesmoor Lane.

In the West Lancashire League Premier Division, Vickerstown host basement boys Eagley and Crooklands Casuals travel to Tempest United in their bid to avoid relegation.

Division One action sees Dalton United and GSK Ulverston Rangers away to Haslingden St Marys and Hurst Green respectively, while Hawcoat Park hosts Mill Hill St Peters.

Furness Cavaliers and Furness Rovers head to Burscough Richmond reserves and Euxton Villa reserves respectively in Division Two, while Swarthmoor go to Leyland United and Millom welcome Thornton Cleveleys reserves.

The semi-final line-up for the Terry Clinton Memorial Trophy will be confirmed tomorrow as well, with Millom reserves playing Haverigg and Hawcoat reserves facing Kirkby in the two remaining quarter-finals.

The winners of the tie between Millom and Haverigg will play Furness Cavaliers reserves, while Hawcoat or Kirkby will take on Vickerstown reserves.
