NEW signings Kyle Delves and Mike Rushton made an impact for Vickerstown as they won 4-1 away to Tempest United in the West Lancashire League Premier Division.

The summer recruits netted two goals each to help the visitors pick up three handy points and the win lifts Vickerstown above their vanquished opponents on goal difference and into ninth in the standings after seven games.

First Division action saw Millom produce a fine display at home to beat fourth-placed CMB 3-1. Phil Edmondson and a Ben McDonald brace sealing the win.

Hawcoat Park drew 1-1 away at Lostock St Gerards thanks to a Pat Allington equaliser.

That result ensures they remain second after eight games and two points behind leaders Leyland United, who have played one game fewer.

A double from Dave Mansergh was enough to earn Crooklands Casuals a point in a 2-2 draw at Wyre Villa.

Askam United’s difficult start to the season continued as lost 3-0 away at Lytham.

They remain in the bottom two, four points behind GSK Ulverston Rangers, who lost 4-0 on the road at table-toppers Leyland.

In Division Two, the team of the month curse struck for Furness Rovers, who went undefeated in August only to be beat 4-0 by Horwich St Marys. That loss saw Croston Sports leapfrog them at the top on goal difference.

Walney Island are yet to be beaten but another 1-1 draw, their third of the season, is costing them valuable points.

Matt Lockley scored in their game at Kendal United, a game in which Walney managed to hit the post three times and the bar on four occasions.

The local derby between Furness Cavaliers and Dalton United finished 2-2.

Sam Graham scored for Cavs after two minutes only for Moses Helliwell to equalise for Dalton.

On the stroke of half time, Chris Benson put Cavs ahead once more however Dalton found another equaliser through Kane Fitch.

Holker Old Boys’ FA Vase adventure ended in the first qualifying round as they went down 2-0 at home to Prestwich Heys, with the visitors scoring either side of half time.

Holker are back in knock-out action this Saturday when they host Garstang in the North West Counties League First Division Cup first round.
