THERE will be a feast of football at Park Vale on Sunday as local footballers unite to show their support for popular player and manager Mark Craig.

The former Municipal and Dalton United player, who also managed Vickerstown, among other clubs, is battling illness.

Vickerstown’s Lancashire Cup winning side of 2007 are reuniting for the occasion, with the likes of Dave Addenbrook and Gareth Brunton putting their boots back on.

Town will face a Barrow All Stars side featuring Barrow AFC Wembley winner Neil Doherty, Wayne Curtis and Steve McCullough.

To finish off the round-robin event is a Vickerstown Vets side who will be calling on the likes of former Barrow AFC striker Lee O’Keeffe, and other well-known local players such as Jonny Lowes and Dave Mansergh. The first game kicks off at 12.45pm, and there will also be other entertainment provided, including a bouncy castle. See squad details below.

Meanwhile, a busy week of night action commenced on Monday as Furness Cavaliers lost 2-1 at home to Dalton United in the West Lancs League Division Two.

Cavs were first off the mark with a 30-yard thunderbolt from Macauley Woods, but Dalton levelled prior to half-time through Danny Leech, and deep into the second half they found a winner from Robbie McMurdo.

Special mention has to go out to referee Gary While who was running the line at Newby Terrace in another fixture. After Norman Edmondson, the referee at the Cavs game collapsed and had to be taken to Furness General Hospital, While answered the call and made his way to Rampside so the fixture could continue. We all wish Norman Edmondson a speedy recovery.

Elsewhere, Swarthmoor reserves and Crooklands Casuals reserves drew 2-2. Josh Price scored both Swarthmoor’s goals.

Askam United reserves inflicted a 6-1 defeat on Ormsgill North End. Brad Jackson helped himself to four, and Andy Green and Lee Irvine were also on target. Steve Crompton scored a consolation for Ormsgill.

Barrow Wanderers beat Barrow Celtic A 4-1. Jed Wilkinson (2), Jordan Wallace and Tommy Walmsley scored for Wanderers, for whom two 16-year-olds – Lewis Waterston and Brennan Molyneux – were outstanding. Danny Mackay was on target for Celtic.

On Tuesday night, every scheduled Furness Premier League fixture was wiped out by rain apart from the Bootle versus Haverigg United game, which ended Haverigg’s outside chances of winning the Premier Division as they lost 5-2.

Joe Capstick, Harry Cowley, Aaron Bradley, Steve Pritt and Graham Hartley scored the goals for Bootle. John Chmiel bagged another two for Haverigg.

In West Lancs Division One, Crooklands Casuals beat GSK Ulverston Rangers 3-1 thanks to goals from Ben Wheeler, Dave Mansergh (penalty) and Jasper Carey. Chris Bolton replied for GSK.

Hawcoat Park also picked up three points as they beat Kendal County 2-1.
