FOUR goals from Rebecca Smith helped Vickerstown Ladies maintain their unbeaten start to the Cumberland FA Women's League as they saw off Stanwix 7-0 at Earnsie Bay last Wednesday.

Nat Foster, Emily Corran and Georgia Mae all netted one apiece too, with the team's strong defence of Ella Meaney – who joined the team in pre season from Wales – Katie Dixon, Darby Harris, Emma Griffths and goalkeeper Antonia Lipscombe keeping three clean sheets in four games.

This was the first of three consecutive home games for the team and was kindly sponsored by Mill Lane Post Office, with Vickerstown now turning their attention to tonight's fixture against Keswick.

It follows Vickerstown opening the season with three straight wins, starting with a 6-1 win away to local rivals Kendal Town Ladies Development thanks to goals from Samantha Norman, Smith, Mae and Kerry Long.

The team's first home game of the year yield a hard-fought 2-0 win against Penrith Rubies where Jodie Litherland and Foster were on target, with Smith providing the assists for both goals.

This game also saw Lewis Campbell and Kreativ Dance sponsoring the match, with sponsors still being sought for the eight remaining home games at a cost of £50 per game.

Vickerstown then made it three from three last week as Smith bagged a hat-trick, along with skipper Litherland netting one and Rebecca D Smith capping her debut with the other.

New players are welcome to join the club and training is on Monday nights from 6.45pm to 8pm at Earnsie Bay. For more information, contact the club on 07805 940186.
